The institute offers a university Doctorate in Archaeology, open to holders of a Master's degree in Archaeology (or an equivalent diploma) who pass a selection based on their academic record and research project.
The doctorate is carried out over at least three years under the supervision of a thesis director, within a recognised research unit: the LECMMA laboratory (study and conservation), the Arch\u00e9om\u00e9trie laboratory or the Prehistory laboratory. The candidate regularly presents the progress of his or her research during seminars organised by the institute.
The thesis is defended publicly before a jury of specialists. Doctoral graduates go on to careers in higher education and research, heritage administration, museums and cultural institutions.
