The Bachelor (Licence) in Archaeology is a national diploma awarded after six semesters (L1\u2013L3), corresponding to 180 ECTS credits, within the LMD system.
The first two years provide a common foundation: general archaeology, methods of excavation and survey, chronology and typology, epigraphy, history of the Maghreb, heritage law and field practice. The third year allows students to choose a specialisation, in particular:
Prehistoric archaeology; Antique archaeology; Islamic and medieval archaeology; Conservation and restoration.
Teaching combines lectures, practical work and \u2014 above all \u2014 training excavation sites. Every year, students complete field work on the institute's excavation projects (Tipasa, Dj\u00e9mila, Timgad) and participate in the study of the material discovered.
Holders of the diploma may continue towards a Master's degree or move towards the professions of heritage: museums, sites and monuments, cultural services and local authorities.
