Each academic year, the institute organises training excavations (chantiers-\u00e9cole) on Algeria's major sites. These field schools are an essential part of the training of archaeologists.
The 2026 field schools
Tipasa: study of the urban fabric and the necropolises of the ancient city;
Dj\u00e9mila (Cuicul): the monumental centre and the housing quarters;
Timgad (Thamugadi): the eastern districts and the craft workshops;
Tahouda: the Numidian settlement and its territory.
The excavations bring together students of the Bachelor, Master and Doctorate under the supervision of teachers and in collaboration with the Direction des Biens Culturels. Accommodation and catering on site, field equipment and insurance are provided. Registration takes place at the beginning of the academic year.
